"Fishburne provided a fresh start, a fresh start, which soon strengthened my withered self-esteem and allowed me to envision a more positive future.。I was a troubled child - always in trouble, and never graduated from public school。I didn't fit in anywhere, so I acted。My experience there, in many ways, made me see myself in a different light - maybe I could do this job called life after all。Maybe I'm not like everyone (including me...)As bad as I was led to believe。For me, it was the discovery of music, especially the guitar, that made me aware of an ability I didn't know I had, and a destiny I've followed ever since。I am forever grateful for the opportunities I found in these rooms and courses。”

"Some of us crawled around in the catacombs under the school until the claustrophobia set in and made us panic。”

"One of my favorite stories is about my English teacher Colonel Keller (TEK).。We all looked up to him and recognized his service in the Army during the Vietnam War by the ribbon he wore。He smoked a pipe in class, which made him even cooler to us。No one can tell a story like Keller。However, when we urged him to tell us the war story, he always put it off。He would tell us that the ribbon/medallion he was wearing was just something he ordered from the back of Fortune magazine! It drove us crazy。I look back now and smile。It's an important lesson in humility。He was a true soldier and teacher, and the medal was second only to the man who wore it。”

"A small amount of unstable chemicals has been added to Colonel Young's unabridged dictionary。He slammed it shut。Burst open。”

"I've matured a lot because of my experience at Fishburne。Fishburne taught me the value of being a leader, not a follower, and helped me get admitted to East Carolina University in 1968。However, I did spend two years in the Navy, eventually maturing and graduating from ECU in 1974. That's when I started my career in the home building supply business。I value the brotherhood I have built with my mentees and will never forget my experience at Fishburn。”

"For a new trainee...I would advise him to be himself and not always try to be the class clown。By following the rules, you'll go further and get more out of the Fishburne experience。It took me three years to learn that。”

"Man, it's about brotherhood!I'm a day student。Our hairstyles were very unpopular at that time。I became more diligent in school and learned how to study。Made friends I still keep in touch with。I was able to have friends over to my house, which made some people come home from school。I like sports and JROTC。Like the riflemen。It was the most amazing experience I've ever seen。I was there because of some bad grades in public school。I'm not the problem. Girls are crazy。”

"My senior year roommate was from the deep South。We have different personalities, different mid - to high-end experiences, but an appreciation for comedy - especially absurd comedy。So a game of pranks and pranks soon began, with each side trying to outdo the other。It quickly spread throughout the corps that no matter what rank any of us were in, we were all equal in terms of who could pull off the best prank or prank。It was a prelude to my social life in college。Because of our shared Fishburne experience, we both definitely have an advantage。”

"Before FMS, I wasn't challenged mentally or physically, and I lacked self-discipline。Now after Fishburne, I have a higher level of confidence and self-discipline。”

"As a leader, Fishburne taught me the importance of valuing everyone and working with others to turn weaknesses into strengths through servant leadership。We end up always being seen as one, which makes it important to always pull others along, be a role model, and show leadership。I've learned that using your rank or forcing someone to do something may get limited results。But trying to help them see the vision and buy into the process contributes to the long-term success of our department。”

"Entering as a shy 13-year-old boy, I became a much more secure 16-year-old。There, I learned another language and made friends from all over the world。We were a group of South Americans who had to travel thousands of miles alone to get to this old school made of bricks。This has had a huge impact on us。We become more confident in many aspects of our lives。As an FMS alumnus, I am extremely proud of all that I have accomplished there and since I left。It's something you'll never forget。I will always remember my experience in Fishburn。”

"What makes Fishburne so special, so rare?In today's chaotic world, where many of our most cherished traditions, values, characters and symbols are easily forgotten, Fishburne stands out。 Fishburne stands out because Fishburne doesn't forget。 Fishburne has not forgotten its own values and traditions, which have been formed and passed on for more than a century and are now a third of the way there。Fishburne does not forget its people。All those who serve the school with honor and excellence, passion and dedication。”

"Before going to Fishburn, I was more interested in sports and girls。 FMS provided the structure I needed and helped me become more disciplined in my life and future endeavors - especially in the military。One of the most important aspects was learning the right study habits from a real role model, Colonel Young, who always encouraged me to move forward。

  1. Take advantage of what they have to offer
  2. Do not give up
  3. And be sure to find a mentor。This experience helped me to have the confidence, structure and relationships needed to run a successful company for more than 50 years。”
